Fascial Manipulation Level I and Level II

This course will be the first time English speaking participants will have the opportunity to learn the Fascial Manipulation © technique in its land of origin - Italy!

Luigi Stecco, founder of the Fascial Manipulation technique, will be present for some question and answer sessions and the team of instructors will include Dr. Carla Stecco and Dr. Antonio Stecco

Course content

This course is an intensive course where theory lessons, demonstrations, and practice between participants alternate throughout the day. It is intended for physiotherapists/osteopaths/ medical doctors and other registered health practitioners with a good working knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology and notions of postural analysis.

Participants will learn to evaluate musculoskeletal dysfunctions, with specific reference to the human fascial system, and to apply the Fascial Manipulation technique as taught by Luigi Stecco. Lessons include anatomy and physiology of the fascial system, explanation of the biomechanical model used in application of this technique and the anatomical localisation of key fascial points.  Emphasis is placed on the evaluation of musculoskeletal dysfunctions (from anamnesis to hypothesis to verification and treatment) together with methodology and strategies of treatment.

The course consist in 2 Levels:

 

Level I is scheduled from June 14, 2010 to 19 June 2010.

Level II is scheduled from September 20, 2010 to September 25, 2010.

 

Each Level is 6 days for a total of 12 Days The 6th day of each level of this course is a half-day (9am – 1p.m). Each day begins at 8.30 until 18.00, with an hour for lunch and 2 coffee/tea breaks of 15 mins. (mid-morning and mid-afternoon).

The time-table may vary according to organizational needs.

 

The two Levels are interrelated. Participants will need to attend both Levels for a complete qualification in Fascial Manipulation.

 

There is an exam for each Level to appraise competency levels.

Theory lessons, demonstrations, and practice between participants alternate throughout the day.

We suggest comfortable clothing such as tracksuits and shorts. Most women find 2-piece bathing costumes are comfortable for the practical sessions.

General Information

Thiene is a pretty city at the foothills of the Dolomites, 19 kilometres from Vicenza, which is famous for its Olympic Theatre and Palladian architecture. Located approximately 75 km west of Venice, 200 km east of Milan, and 66 kilometres from Lake Garda, Thiene is in a great position for organizing pre or post course trips. While Thiene is close to the A31 highway that runs from Milan to Venice, it is also connected, via bus and by train, to Vicenza, which is on the main Milan-Venice train line. The closest airports are Venice and Verona, while Milan is further away yet still accessible.

Julie Ann Day is originally from Adelaide, Australia where she completed a Diploma in Physiotherapy in 1977. Working mostly in the Orthopaedic field she is specialised in Connective Tissue Massage (both Dicke and Teirich-Leube methods) and Foot Reflexology. Julie has always been highly interested in various forms of therapeutic exercise (Feldenkrais, Hatha Yoga, ETC). Since 1999 she has been involved in Fascial Manipulation, as taught by Luigi Stecco and is currently part of the authorised teaching group. Between 2003 and 2004 she translated Stecco’s book “Fascial Manipulation for Musculoskeletal Pain” from Italian to English. Julie lives and works in Padova in the North of Italy. Since 2000 she has been a clinical tutor for 3rd year Physiotherapy students from the University of Padova during their Orthopaedic clinical practice.
